Local SEO for home services businesses in Vancouver, WA

Paid ads stop the moment you stop paying. Search rankings keep sending work long after. I build the pages, the profile, and the technical foundation that get a trade business found for what it actually sells. Based in Vancouver, WA, working with local businesses across the country.

Five places your customers can find you

One search, five separate surfaces, each won a different way. Most local businesses show up on one or two of them and never find out what the other three were worth.

Google ads

Top of the page from day one. You pay per click, and I track what each call ended up costing you.

The map

The three businesses Google shows on the map, above everything else on the page.

Your Google listing

Hours, service area, photos, and customer questions, kept current instead of last updated in 2021.

Search results

The normal results underneath. These keep bringing calls after the ad budget stops.

Reviews

A review request that goes out after every job, on its own, so the rating keeps climbing.

What the work involves

Four things, done in this order, because each one makes the next one worth more.

Google Business Profile

The profile is what decides whether you appear in the three-result map pack, and for most trades that pack sits above everything else on the page. Categories, service areas, services, photos, and the questions people ask all get set up and kept current. This is the highest-leverage hour in local SEO and it is the one most businesses never spend.

Pages that match what people actually type

One page per service and per area you serve, each written to answer a specific search. A single page can realistically compete for one thing. Structure is what lets a site compete for dozens without any page being thin.

The technical layer

Site speed, crawlability, internal links, and structured data, so a search engine can tell what you do, where you do it, and which page answers which question. Invisible to visitors, and the reason a good-looking site can sit on page four for a year.

Reviews, handled automatically

Review count and recency feed directly into map pack ranking, and asking by hand is the task that always slips. Requests go out automatically after a job closes, so the rating keeps climbing without anyone remembering to chase it.

What this looked like in practice

12x organic traffic.

All Seasons Cleaning Services is an exterior home services company working Vancouver and the Portland metro, with roughly 28 service lines across 23 cities. The site was on Webflow, it looked fine, and it was not bringing in search traffic.

I migrated it to Next.js and rebuilt it around the searches that actually produce jobs rather than the ones that sound impressive, at the scale the business really operates: a page per service, per area, instead of one page trying to compete for all of it. Organic traffic grew 12x over the 19 months that followed. Same business, same services, same cities. The month-by-month figures, and where they come from, are in the full case study. The same approach, tuned per trade, is on the roofing and gutter and HVAC pages.

Worth being straight about what that number is: it is a growth rate from a small starting point, not a claim that a local cleaning company suddenly gets national traffic. For a business selling into one metro, the rate is the part that matters, because it is the difference between a site that produces work and one that just exists.

How long this takes

Slower than ads, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something. The Google Business Profile can move within weeks because it is a separate system with its own signals. Pages ranking organically take longer, and how much longer depends on who you are competing with in your area.

If you need calls this month, start with Google Ads and let search build underneath it. The usual mistake is picking one, when the reason to run both is that ads pay for now and search pays for later.

What it costs

A site build starts at $2,825, plus $400/mo to keep your Google listing working once it's live. If you already have a site worth keeping, the ongoing work can run on its own. Service areas covered in person are Vancouver, WA, Camas, WA, Battle Ground, WA, Ridgefield, WA, Salmon Creek, WA, and Portland, OR, though the work itself is remote-friendly anywhere in the US.
